How to be lazy and successful

Productive laziness is all about success, but success with far less effort (''Peter Taylor, the lazy project manager''). Focus on the critical matters - the ones which make the most impact rather than getting caught up in non critical matters. There are only 24 hours in a day so you can not do everything. Communicate with others find out the problems that are most effecting them, delegate roles and responsibility to staff, try not to micromanage them.

Many organisations use the pareto principle also known as the 80/20 rule to focus on the 20% that really matters. The (80/20 rule) states that for many phenomena, 80% of the consequences stem from 20% of the causes. The assumption is that most of the results in any situation are determined by a small number of causes. So ‘20% of clients may be responsible for 80% of sales volume’.The value of the 80/20 rule is that it reminds you to focus on the 20% that really matters.

Productive laziness is not just about being lazy, it requires something more and that is a powerful and magical combination of laziness and intelligence. Smart lazy people have a real edge over others in society and are most suited to leadership roles in organisations.
