Google Drive for Students

Late last month Google launched 'Google Drive' and it created a lot of media hype worldwide. Their new Cloud Service replaces 'Google Docs' and is quite similar to other Storage Services out there such as Dropbox, Wikispaces etc. For students it is a very valuable service as it allows you to set up groups for projects, share videos, upload files and edit them in real time. If you are doing a group or individual project, google drive has some very nice  features and has set the mark for file sharing Cloud Services.
The main advantages of Google Drive for students -
  • Google Drive enables you to create new documents, presentations, and spreadsheets instantly. You can allow others to access these documents and watch changes in real-time.
  • Large attachments can now be replaced with Google Drive links, giving access to the same file easily.
  • Pictures and videos uploaded to Google Drive are instantly available on Google+. You can also share these with your circles.
  • Multiple file types are supported, giving you the ability to view files from Adobe Photoshop, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, and HD video and without the relevant software installed on your desktop.
  • Google Drive features app support, allowing you to create, open, and share files from a variety of apps directly.
  • The settings options allows you to share documents with everyone while specifying whether they would be able to edit or comment on the file, or just view it.
  • Tracks every change made to documents by students and allows you to go back as far as 30 days.
Good luck with your projects!!
